The Human Resource Office of the Catholic Diocese of Maralal is dedicated to nurturing, developing, and guiding the people who serve the mission of the Church. Rooted in Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching, the office ensures that clergy, religious, and lay staff are supported, empowered, and equipped to carry out their pastoral and professional responsibilities with integrity, competence, and commitment. Our Digital Mission

The Human Resource Office of the Catholic Diocese of Maralal oversees recruitment, capacity-building, welfare, and performance management of all diocesan staff, clergy, and lay collaborators. It ensures fairness, professionalism, and stewardship of human talent in line with Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching, while fostering a safe, productive, and mission-driven work environment. In fulfilling its mandate, the office operates under Canon Law can. 1284, which obliges administrators to exercise diligence in managing Church resources and people, and aligns with the Kenya Employment Act, 2007, which provides for fair labour practices, rights, and protection of workers.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

The Human Resource Office ensures the Diocese’s workforce is recruited, trained, and supported to serve with dignity, justice, and accountability in line with Canon Law and Kenya Labour Laws. More function include

  • Recruitment & Staffing – Attracting, selecting, and placing qualified clergy, religious, and lay personnel.

  • Orientation & Induction – Introducing new staff to diocesan mission, values, and workplace culture.

  • Training & Capacity Building – Providing professional development, pastoral formation, and leadership training.

  • Employee Welfare & Well-being – Promoting dignity, fairness, health, and safety in the workplace.

  • Performance Management – Monitoring, evaluating, and improving individual and departmental performance.

  • Conflict Resolution & Reconciliation – Handling grievances, promoting harmony, and ensuring just solutions.

  • Compliance & Legal Guidance – Upholding Canon Law and Kenya Labour Laws in all HR practices.

  • Talent Development & Retention – Identifying potential, nurturing growth, and reducing turnover.

  • Policy Formulation & Implementation – Establishing clear HR policies consistent with Gospel values and legal standards.

  • Strategic Workforce Planning – Aligning human resources with the pastoral and developmental mission of the Diocese.
