The Office of the Director of the Catholic Diocese of Maralal provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of diocesan programs and departments in service to the Bishop’s pastoral vision. The Director works closely with clergy, religious, and laity to ensure effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that promote evangelization, social development, justice, peace, and the holistic growth of the faithful. Through stewardship, collaboration, and accountability, the office guides diocesan structures—including pastoral, social, and administrative arms—toward fulfilling the Church’s mission of proclaiming the Gospel and serving God’s people with integrity and dedication.

The PIHD & CJPD Office of the Catholic Diocese of Maralal is dedicated to promoting human dignity, social justice, peace, and integral human development, rooted in the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching. It seeks to empower communities through education, advocacy, and capacity-building, while defending the rights of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized. Through fostering peace, reconciliation, accountability, and pastoral care, the office strives to build a society founded on truth, justice, love, and solidarity, where faith and human development go hand in hand for the common good

Core Duties & Responsibilities

The PIHD Office carries out a wide range of critical functions that ensure the Diocese’ pastoral mission, social justice initiatives, and human development programs are effectively implemented, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of the faithful and the wider community. More functions include:

FUNCTION OF THE DIRECTOR

  • Strategic Leadership – Provide overall vision, direction, and coordination of all PIHD and CJPD programs within the Diocese.

  • Pastoral & Social Mission Oversight – Ensure integration of Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching in justice, peace, and human development initiatives.

  • Advocacy & Justice Promotion – Represent the Diocese in issues of human rights, peacebuilding, governance, and social transformation.

  • Community Empowerment – Oversee training, education, and capacity-building for sustainable development and community resilience.

  • Peace & Reconciliation – Guide conflict resolution, promote dialogue, and foster unity and reconciliation within communities.

  • Collaboration & Networking – Build partnerships with Church institutions, government bodies, NGOs, and international organizations for greater impact.

  • Accountability & Stewardship – Ensure transparency, responsible use of resources, and effective monitoring and evaluation of projects

FUNCTION OF THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR

  • Assist in Leadership & Strategy – Support the Director in planning, implementing, and evaluating PIHD & CJPD programs.

  • Program Coordination – Supervise day-to-day activities, ensuring smooth execution of projects and initiatives.

  • Representation – Stand in for the Director when delegated, representing the office in diocesan, national, and community forums.

  • Monitoring & Reporting – Track progress of programs, prepare reports, and ensure accountability and transparency.

  • Staff & Departmental Support – Provide guidance to departmental heads under PIHD & CJPD for effective service delivery.
